Glenn Pomeroy, CA Earthquake Authority, California
From 2008 to 2024, Glenn Pomeroy led the not-for-profit CEA—the largest earthquake insurance provider in the United States and one of the largest in the world.
Under Glenn’s leadership, CEA provided earthquake insurance protection for more than 1.1 million California homes, backed by more than $19 billion in claim paying capacity and has provided funding to seismically retrofit over 17,000 older homes in higher risk areas. CEA also serves as Administrator of the California Wildfire Fund, and provided up to $21 billion in coverage for wildfires caused by investor-owned utilities.
Originally from North Dakota, Glenn served his native state as a state legislator (first elected at age 22), county prosecutor, and elected state Insurance Commissioner. He also served as President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, and later worked in the private reinsurance industry in Kansas City before moving to California.
Glenn and his wife Jean have three grown children, all living in Northern California.
