2016 Aquatic Plant Survey of Ajello's Pond
Ajello’s Pond is a 6 acre private pond located in Seymour, CT. Our CAES IAPP 2016 aquatic plant survey found seven native species. Free floating common duckweed (Lemna minor) and watermeal (Wolffia species) covered the surface of the pond along the eastern and southwestern
shoreline. Nodding waternymph (Najas flexilis) and snailseed pondweed (Potamogeton bicupulatus) were found scattered throughout the pond. Emergent plants, common reed (Phragmites australis) and cattail (Typha species) were also found along the
pond edges. Common reed is considered an invasive wetland plant. The bottom of the pond was mostly covered in algae.
