Purple Up! with purple t-shirt For Military Kids Day April 27, 2022

Military members and military-connected families make many sacrifices for the security and safety of our nation, including our military-connected children, who transition frequently during their K-12 careers. Governor Lamont has designated April as the Month of the Military Child and April 27th as “Purple Up! Day for Military Kids.”Across the nation, states and school districts will celebrate the important role military children play while their service member parents serve our country through special events and by wearing the color purple, which references the unity of the military – encompassing all service branches, Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, and Veterans. Please join Governor Lamont and the Connecticut State Board of Education in thanking our military children for their strength and sacrifice by supporting “Purple Up! For Military Kids” this month – they deserve our support and appreciation!

Specifically, we ask for your support in April for “Purple Up! For Military Kids” by: (1) Coordinating a district-wide celebration and promoting it through your communication channels (website, newsletters, media), stakeholders, and partners, by tagging #MIC3Compact, #EducateCT, and #purpleup4militarykids; (2) by wearing purple to your local or regional board of education meeting during the month of April, (3) by attending a district or school event celebrating “Purple Up! For Military Kids.” Please inform us of any district or school level promotion.
