Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Submits Written Testimony Supporting Legislation to Protect Domestic Workers
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz today submitted written testimony to the Labor and Public Employees Committee in support of House Bill 5276, An Act Concerning Domestic Workers. The bill would require employers of domestic workers to disclose information about working conditions and grants to domestic workers certain privacy protections, the ability to raise health concerns relating to cleaning products and protection from retaliation.

Lt. Governor Bysiewicz and Commissioner Hurlburt Kick Off Maple Sugaring Season in CT
(BURLINGTON CT) – Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Department of Agriculture Commissioner Bryan P. Hurlburt today joined Rob Lamothe, owner of Lamothe’s Sugar House in Burlington, to participate in a ceremonial maple tapping in celebration of Connecticut’s “sweetest” time of the year, the start of maple sugaring season.

Lt. Governor Bysiewicz, Commissioner Saadi Announce 10 New Inductees Into Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Thomas Saadi today announced ten veterans who will be inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame as the Class of 2019. The Hall of Fame recognizes distinguished Connecticut veterans who have made significant contributions to their communities after leaving military service.

Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Encourages Artists, Non-profits, and businesses to sign up for the 2020 Census Create-A-Thon Happening This Friday
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, the Mohegan Tribe of Indians, the U.S. Census Bureau, and the Connecticut Complete Count Committee, will host Connecticut’s first Create-A-Thon, an event that brings together creative artists, community leaders, non-profits, and businesses to brainstorm and design art and materials to inform the public about the 2020 Census. It’s happening this Friday, November 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Mohegan Sun Cabaret Theater and there’s still time to RSVP! The top three designs will be awarded prizes sponsored by various media organizations and agencies.

Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Announces $500,000 in State Funding to Maximize Participation in the 2020 Census
Today, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Office of Policy and Management (OPM) Secretary Melissa McCaw announced the state of Connecticut has identified $500,000 within existing and available appropriations across state agencies to aid in efforts to complete the 2020 Census.

Lt. Gov. Bysiewicz Announces 'Galvanize Connecticut'
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz announced today that the Governor’s Council on Women and Girls is teaming up with United State of Women (USOW) and the Connecticut Collective for Women and Girls to co-host a one day summit focused on empowerment of women and girls on December 7, 2019 at Goodwin College in East Hartford. Galvanize Connecticut will include panel discussions, keynote presentations by nationally recognized speakers, trainings on combatting systems that perpetuate gender inequity, opportunities to network with local and national organizations at an Engagement Fair, and more.

Today, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, joined by the U.S. Census Bureau, Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Sibongile Magubane, Deputy Commissioner Tony Guerrera, and Representatives Pat Wilson Pheanious, Hilda Santiago and Toni Walker, launched a statewide 2020 Census Jobs Recruitment Campaign at the DMV Main Office in Wethersfield.

Governor Lamont & Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Recognize Contributions of Blind Americans in Connecticut
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Department of Aging and Disability Services Commissioner Amy Porter presented an official proclamation on behalf of Governor Ned Lamont recognizing October 15 as Blind Americans Equality Day in the State of Connecticut and as a day to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of Americans who are blind or visually impaired.

LT. GOVERNOR BYSIEWICZ NAMED HONORARY CONNECTICUT CHAIR OF NATIONAL MILLION WOMEN MENTORS MOVEMENT
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz has been named the Connecticut Honorary Chair of the Million Women Mentors’ (MWM). Connecticut now joins governors, lieutenant governors, members of congress, and other leaders from over 40 other states in a national movement aimed at advancing girls and women in STEM programs.

Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Named Statewide Chair of Connecticut State Employees Campaign for Charitable Giving
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz has been named the Statewide Chair of the Connecticut State Employees Campaign for Charitable Giving (CSEC). Today, she joined the Statewide Campaign Committee to kick off the 2019 campaign at the State Capitol. During the event, state employees and retirees had the opportunity to meet with representatives from participating charities and learn more about the great programs and services that they provide.

LT. GOVERNOR BYSIEWICZ & CONGRESSMAN HIMES ANNOUNCE CONNECTICUT’S FIRST REGIONAL 2020 CENSUS MEETING IN NORWALK
Lt. Governor Bysiewicz and Congressman Jim Himes today announced that Connecticut’s first regional 2020 Census meeting will take place in the Fourth Congressional District tomorrow, Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Norwalk Library, 1 Belden Ave, Norwalk, CT. Government leaders, local businesses, non-profit organizations, faith groups, and members of the public are invited to attend the meeting to learn more about some of the challenges Connecticut communities face in achieving a complete count for the 2020 Census and how to address them.
