GOV. MALLOY REMINDS RESIDENTS COOLING CENTERS CAN BE LOCATED BY CALLING 2-1-1

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reminding Connecticut residents that as the state continues to experience hot and humid conditions, cooling centers are open in towns and cities throughout the state and can be located by calling 2-1-1.

“A few simple steps can greatly reduce heat-related issues, especially for the elderly, the very young, and people with respiratory ailments who are more susceptible to the effects of high temperatures,” Governor Malloy said.  “Towns and cities across the state have cooling centers available.  Any resident looking for a place to cool off should call 2-1-1 to find out where their closest cooling center is located.”

Action steps that residents should take to protect themselves during periods of extreme heat can be found online by visiting www.ready.gov/heat.
