Statewide Narcotics Task Force Make Arrest Following Narcotics Investigation

      Sprague, CT. (August 9, 2016):  The Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force – East Office arrested a Baltic man following an investigation into the sale of heroin.

      The Statewide Narcotics Task Force (SNTF) - East Office is comprised of detectives from the Connecticut State Police, the Norwich Police Department, the Groton City Police Department, the New London Police Department and United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). 

      Detectives from the SNTF and the Sprague Resident Trooper’s Office initiated a several month-long investigation into the sale of heroin in the Sprague area.  Through the course of this lengthy investigation detectives developed a suspect, Tomas Ortiz, and continued the investigation. 

      Upon the conclusion of the investigation detectives applied for, and were granted, an arrest warrant for Ortiz from the superior court.

      On August 8, 2016 at approximately 2:00 p.m. SNTF detectives served the active arrest warrant on Tomas Ortiz. Ortiz was taken into custody and transported to Troop E – Montville were he was fingerprinted, photographed, and held on bond pending his court date.
