UPDATE: Troopers Make Arrest Following Haddam Larcenies

Bridgewater, CT. (August 4, 2016):  Western District Major Crime Detectives (WDMC) are currently investigating a home invasion at 606 S. Main St. in Bridgewater where one male victim sustained a gunshot wound.

On August 4, 2016 at approximately 3:40 a.m., Troopers from Troop A-Southbury responded to 606 S. Main St. in Bridgewater for a reported gunshot victim.

Upon arrival troopers initiated medical care to the male victim, secured the area, and learned a home invasion had occurred.  EMS responded to the scene and transported the male victim to Danbury Hospital for further evaluation.  The male victim was conscious and alert talking to troopers on scene.  At this time he does not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

At least one suspect, a light-skinned or Hispanic male, fled the scene prior to trooper arrival.  The male suspect was believed to be in possession of a firearm and hiding in the heavily-wooded area between 606 S. Main St. and the boat launch at Lake Lillinonah.

Troopers, State Police K9’s, and State Police Tactical Unit members searched the heavily wooded area for suspects. Brookfield Police Officers also assisted.

While on scene troopers located a vehicle reported stolen out of New York State on S. Main St. in Bridgewater, and are working to confirm if it is related to the home invasion.

Through the course of the search for the suspect/s troopers also located the firearm, a shotgun, in the immediate area.  As troopers continued the search for suspect/s they were notified by a resident also in the immediate area that his vehicle was stolen from his driveway.  Troopers determined that the suspect was most-likely no longer in the area.

As the investigation continued a stolen vehicle out of Bridgewater was reported located on N. Main St. in Waterbury.  WDMC detectives responded to the Waterbury scene and are working to determine if that stolen vehicle is related to the original Bridgewater investigation.

State Police Troopers and Detectives continue the investigation and search for the suspect/s in this home invasion.  Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 203-267-2200 or text TIP711 with the information to 274637.  All calls will be kept confidential.

UPDATE #2:

This active and ongoing investigation developed numerous leads which led detectives to North Main St. in Waterbury where two stolen vehicles were recovered.  It was determined that both stolen vehicles, a Black BMW and Ford Econoline Van were connected to the Bridgewater home invasion and stolen vehicle reports in the area and NY.

Through the diligent and relentless efforts of detectives from Western District Major Crime (WDMC), Middletown (NY) Police Department, and the Duchess County Sheriff’s Office (NY) a suspect was developed.  It was determined that the suspect, identified as Dustin Holst-Grubbe, was involved in multiple crimes throughout these jurisdictions.

Western District Major Crime (WDMC), Middletown (NY) Police Department, and the Duchess County Sheriff’s Office (NY) tirelessly collaborated efforts to locate Holst-Grubbe.

On August 7, 2016 detectives from the Duchess County Sheriff’s Office informed WDMC detectives that Holst-Grubbe had turned himself in to the New York State Police Barracks in Millerton, NY on burglary charges.

An interview of Holst-Grubbe was conducted, and the information obtained was disseminated to all of the respective agencies.

On August 8 and 9, 2016 based upon these investigations, multiple arrest warrants were being prepared for Holst-Grubbe by WDMC, Middletown (NY) Police Department, and the Duchess County Sheriff’s Office (NY) for crimes committed in their respective jurisdictions.

Connecticut State Police and Western District Major Crime hold an active arrest warrant for Holst-Grubbe with charges stemming from the home invasion and stolen motor vehicles.

Dustin Holst-Grubbe is currently being held in New York for charges determined through their investigation.  The Connecticut warrant will be served upon the authorization of the courts and Holst-Grubbe’s transfer to Connecticut.
