         State Police Continue To Investigate Suspicious Death

   On Monday, June 13, 2011, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Rocky Hill Police received a 911 call from a person walking his dog reporting that he had discovered what appeared to be human remains off Old Forge Road in Rocky Hill, near the Cromwell town line.

   Police responded and found decomposing, partially-buried human remains. Rocky Hill Police Officers secured the scene and contacted the State’s Attorney Office and requested the State Police Major Crime Squad respond to conduct the investigation into this death.

   Central District State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives responded and initiated the criminal investigation into this death. State Police Detectives documented and examined the scene.  Troopers worked well into the late evening hours processing the entire scene.

   All surrounding police departments were advised of this case and were requested to examine all missing person records to possibly aid in establishing the identity of the deceased. State Police Detectives are following up on leads and information in this case.

   The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to the scene and transported the deceased to Farmington where a post mortem examination of the deceased was performed today, June 14, 2011, in an effort to determine the manner and cause of death.  In addition, evidence was obtained to establish the identity of the deceased . The medical examiner has not determined the cause of death at this time.  The deceased is described as a white female approximately 5’5” tall.

   On June 14, 2011, State Police K-9 teams returned to the scene to conduct additional daylight searches for evidence.

      

   State Police and Rocky Hill Detectives are continuing this investigation.
