UPDATE: ROUTE 8 NOW OPEN

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT CLOSES PART OF ROUTE 8;
CONNECTICUT STATE POLICE ASK MOTORISTS TO SEEK ALTERNATE ROUTE

A traffic accident on Route 8 has closed part of the highway as Connecticut State Police investigate a motor vehicle accident Wednesday morning.

State Troopers encourage motorists to seek alternate routes to Route 8.

The accident took place on Route 8 Northbound at exit 22 in Seymour. 

Route 8 North at exit 22 is closed, and traffic is being diverted off exit 22.  The left lane of Route 8 Southbound at exit 22 is also closed due to debris in the roadway.

Route 8 North at exit 22 will be closed for the next few hours.
