FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 15, 2011
STATE POLICE MAKE COMPUTER CRIME ARREST

During the months of January and February 2010, the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit was involved in an investigation into child pornography distribution, importation and possession in Hartford.

In February, 2010, the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit executed a search and seizure warrant at 121 Westbrook Street, Hartford, the home of Luis Ayala (D.O.B. 09/29/1968).

During the execution of the search warrant, several items were seized and transported to the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes and Electronic Evidence Laboratory for further investigative examination.

In June 2011, the analysis and investigation was completed revealing that Luis Ayala, who was previously registered in the State of Connecticut as a Sexual Offender, was in possession of more than 5,000 images on his iPhone cellular device which was used to commit violations of multiple Connecticut General Statues.  E-mail communications and text messages, as well as images and videos, were examined and as a result an arrest warrant was applied for and received from G.A. 14 Hartford for Ayala.

On June 15, 2011, Ayala turned himself in to State Police Barracks, Troop H, in Hartford, where he was arrested and processed according to department policy and procedure. He was held on a bond of $150,000 set by the court.
