                                 STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH

   On Saturday, April 2, 2011, at approximately 4 p.m., State Police Troop C received a report of the discovery of possible human remains located at 31 Reservoir Lane in the town of Stafford.  Troopers responded to the rural area and confirmed that the remains were human and the area was secured.

   State Police Eastern District Major Crime Detectives responded to the scene to process the entire scene and to conduct the investigation.  State Police Detectives were directed to an area on Reservoir Lane where they observed human skeletal remains and clothing along with blankets and bedding material.

   The remains appeared to have been there for an extended period of time.  No identification papers were located within the clothing. The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington for a forensic postmortem examination.

   State Police Major Crime Detectives are continuing the investigation to establish positive identification and to establish details regarding the death of the subject.

   On April 4, 2011, the Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner conducted the post mortem examination of the deceased.  The cause of death is undetermined at this time.

   The deceased has been tentively identified but the release of that information is being withheld until positive ID has been made by State Police.
