State Police Investigate Attempted Burglary

On June 29, 2011 at approximately 8:09 p.m., State Troopers from Troop A- Southbury and the Oxford Resident Troopers Office received an attempted robbery complaint at the Double "R" Mobil Gas Station 1 Oxford Road (Rt. 67) in the town of Oxford.

Troopers responded to the gas station and upon arrival secured the scene and interviewed witnesses.  Initial investigation determined that a lone male had entered the gas station and demanded money from the attendant.  No weapon was displayed, but the suspect did claim to have one, possibly a handgun.  There were no  were injuries.

The attempted robbery scene was secured by the responding troopers and the area was searched by troopers, Oxford police officers, and State Police K-9 teams. Surrounding police departments were made aware of this attempted robbery and provided a description of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white male white male in his early 20s, 5'4" to 5'6" tall, with a medium to heavy build.  The suspect was wearing a red t-shirt, dark shorts with red and white stripes, a white baseball style hat with black lettering and brim, dark high-top sneakers and he had close cut hair.
