STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN NEW HARTFORD ARMED ROBBERY

   On 1-26-2010, at approximately 2:32 pm, the Connecticut State Police at Troop B received a 911 call reporting an armed robbery at Michel Angelo’s Restaurant located at 256 Main Street, in New Hartford, CT. 

   Troopers responded to the scene and began an immediate search of the area for the suspect.  All area police agencies were advised of the robbery. The suspect is described as a heavy set male, approximately 5’7 to 5’9”, possible reddish facial hair, wearing a black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt and green pants. Witnesses reported that the suspect entered the business and attempted to open the cash register.  The suspect briefly displayed a handgun and fled on foot. Connecticut State Police K-9 Teams responded to also search the area of this robbery.

   The New Hartford Resident State Trooper and Town Officers, working with State Police Western District Major Crime Squad Detectives, conducted the criminal investigation into this robbery. Investigators developed information, leads, and evidence that led to the identity of a suspect in this case.

   An arrest warrant application was submitted to Superior Court for the arrest of the accused. Today, 01/27/10, the arrest warrant was issued by the court and the accused was charged in this case.

CHARGES:    Robbery 1st

                  Larceny 6th

       Criminal Mischief 3rd

   The accused will be arraigned in Bantam Superior Court today, 1/27/10, on these charges. No additional arrests are anticipated.
