STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING BANK ROBBERY IN COLUMBIA

Connecticut State Police are investigating the robbery of a bank in Columbia this afternoon by a lone male.

State Police were called to the New Alliance Bank, 164 Route 66, in Columbia at about 1: 15 p.m. today.  Troopers obtained preliminary information that a lone, heavy-set, black male, 5’6”, 190 pounds entered the bank and demanded money.  The man did not imply or display a weapon.  He has large acne scars on his face and was last seen wearing a white sleeveless undershirt and gray baggy sweatpants.

After running out of the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, the accused managed to escape on foot.

Connecticut State Troopers responded to the scene and secured the scene.  State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to the scene to process the crime scene and initiate the investigation into this robbery. 

State Police are currently searching for this suspect with the help of State Police canine teams and State Police aircraft.   There were no injuries during this incident.
