STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE INMATE ON INMATE
ASSAULT AT NORTHERN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION
Today 5/14/08 at 1:53 p.m. State Police at Troop C in Tolland were notified by Department of Corrections Officials who reported that an assault had occurred at the Northern Correctional Facility located in Somers.
Correctional Officials further reported that the assault involved two inmates and that one injured inmate was to be transferred to an outside medical facility for emergency treatment. State troopers responded to the Correctional Facility secured the scene and provided security escort to
State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad Detectives have responded to the Correctional Facility to conduct the criminal investigation into this incident. The Department of Corrections will conduct an internal investigation into this matter.
The identities of both inmates is being withheld pending notification of family members.
