DISTURBANCE AT PRIVATE RESIDENCE

LEADS TO DISCHARGE OF FIREARM, STAFFORD, CT

On Thursday, Nov 20, 2008, at approximately 1:05 a.m., the State Police (Troop C) received a report of an active disturbance at a private residence located on Lake Shore Blvd in Stafford, CT.

Troopers responded and upon arrival learned that a disturbance had occurred between several people at a gathering within the Lake Shore Boulevard residence. It was further determined that the persons at this gathering all knew each other and all were invited guests of the homeowner.

The on-scene investigation determined that during the course of the on-going dispute (non-physical), one of the persons brandished a handgun.

A physical altercation between the person brandishing the firearm and another person then occurred. As a result of that altercation the armed subject was slightly injured (cut to the forehead) and the firearm was taken away from the armed subject.

Two shots were then discharged from the firearm by the person who was able to disarm the subject. Reportedly the shots were fired into the ceiling of the residence and fired in order to regain control of the continuing altercation.

The injured suspect fled the residence and the police were called.

Subsequently a search for the suspect occurred as the residence was secured as a crime scene. The firearm was seized by Troopers at the scene. Subsequently it was determined that the firearm was reported stolen. State Police Detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation into this incident.

As a result of checking several locations and developing leads at each of these locations, State Troopers and Detectives located the suspect at a friend’s home on White Oak Road in Stafford. The suspect who had brandished the firearm at the gathering was taken into custody and arrested.
