         STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE THREAT AT TORRINGTON SCHOOL

   Today, May 15th, 2007, at approximately 12:23 p.m., the State Police responded to a complaint of a threatening message left on a wall in the Oliver Wolcott Technical School, located at 75 Oliver Street in Torrington, CT.

   Troopers from Troops B and L and Torrington Police Officers were dispatched to the scene. In addition, Trooper One (the State Police helicopter) was dispatched to the scene. State Police specialized K-9s were also dispatched to the scene.

   The threatening message, which was discovered on the grounds of the school, indicated a threat of violence to the student body. This incident has prompted a criminal investigation.

   The school administration decided to have an early controlled dismissal of the students.

   The State Police Western District Major Crime Squad is at the scene and assuming this criminal investigation.
