            SUBJECT ARRESTED AFTER OBTAINING LICENSE
                                     UNDER FALSE PRETENSES

   On 08/16/07 at 5:30 p.m., Bernard J. McHugh d.o.b. 05/11/51 of 138 Chestnut Hill Rd. in Norwalk was arrested at the Bridgeport Office of the Department of Motor Vehiclesafter presenting a DMV employee with a false name and then handing her an envelope with a $1,500 cash bribe.

   Once the license was issued, McHugh was taken into custody by State Police Detectives. Further investigation revealed that McHugh’s current driver’s license was suspended indefinitely based on three (3) prior DWI arrests in Connecticut.

   McHugh was charged with Bribery in violation of C.G.S 53a-147, Forgery II in violation of C.G.S 53a-139 and False Statement II in violation of 53a-157.

   This case was investigated by the State Police Motor Vehicle Fraud Task Force and the Connecticut DMV Compliance Review Unit. He was held on a $50,000 bond and will be presented to G.A. #2 in Bridgeport on 08/17/07.
