ConnecticutState Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force
Makes Arrest, Large Seizure of Weapons and Drugs in East Lyme
On 11-30-07, at approximately 10 p.m., members of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force and the East Lyme Resident Trooper's Office concluded a month-long investigation into the trafficking of illegal narcotics taking place at 117 Edge Hill Road, Niantic, CT, with the execution of a search warrant of the person of Curtis Nichols, 11/13/82, and his residence. The accused was located at the Lyme Tavern located on West Main Street in Niantic. The accused was found to be in possession of one loaded 25 caliber handgun as well as two sets of Brass Knuckles, a Tazer, $624 in cash and 7.4 grams of cocaine. The accused was transported to his residence located at 117 Edge Hill Road, Niantic, where a search of the residence was conducted and the following items were seized:
8 handguns (2 of which had altered serial numbers), 1 Booby Trap device, 1 Bullet Proof Vest,
1 Kevlar ballistic face shield, 20 Rifles (including several military assault rifles), thousands of rounds of ammunition, 1 sawed-off shotgun, 6 shotguns, 1 Black Powder rifle, 21 Cross Bows, 2 compound bows, 2 blow guns, 12 swords, as well as numerous fighting-style knives and some marijuana.
Arrested: Curtis Nichols, DOB 11/13/82, of 117 Edge Hill Road, East Lyme, CT.
Charges: Poss. Cocaine WITS, Poss. Marijuana WITD, Operating a Drug Factory, Carrying a Handgun without a Permit, Poss. Sawed Off Shotgun, 2 counts Poss. of Stolen Gun, 2 counts of Poss. of Gun with Obliterated Serial Number.
