State Police Make Arrest In Theft Of Evidence
from Commercial Storage Facility in Woodbury CT
The Connecticut State Police conducted an investigation into the burglary of a commercial storage facility at the Woodbury Storage Company at 194 Old Town Farm Road in Woodbury, CT.   Evidence from a State Police criminal case was being stored at this location. One of the storage bays was utilized to hold the forged/counterfeit items (purses, handbags, wallets, wrist watches, necklaces and sunglasses) seized during a criminal investigation conducted by the Woodbury Resident Troopers Office in July 2006.
The evidence was seized from venders at the Woodbury Antique Flea market. Eleven (11) people were arrested and charged related to sale and/or possession with intent to sell counterfeit goods. Of those 11 arrests, 10 had been adjudicated in court prior to the theft.

On 05/09/2007, State Police discovered that forcible entry had been made into the storage bay and a majority of the counterfeit evidence was stolen. State Police Detectives from the Western District Major Crime Squad responded and conducted the investigation into this theft.

Based on physical and forensic evidence gathered at the scene and investigative information discovered by detectives an arrest warrant was applied for the manager of Woodbury Storage Company.
