State Police Investigating Burglary and Larceny

from Commercial Storage Facility in Woodbury CT

The Connecticut State Police is currently investigating a burglary into a commercial building at the Woodbury Storage company located at 194 Old Town Farm Road in Woodbury, CT.

Property from an investigation conducted by the Woodbury Connecticut State Police Resident Trooper’s Office was being stored at this location. One of the many storage bays was being utilized to hold a large number of forged/counterfeit items (purses, handbags, wallets, wrist watches, necklaces and sunglasses) that was seized by the Woodbury Resident Troopers Office in July 2006 from venders of the Woodbury Antique Flea market. As a result of that investigation eleven (11) people were arrested for criminal charges related to sale and/or possession with intent to sell counterfeit goods. Of those 11 arrests, 10 have been adjudicated in court.

Sometime between July 2006 and May 2007 unknown person(s) made forcible entry into the storage bay and removed a majority of the counterfeit items.

The theft was discovered after a check of the interior of the storage was conducted by police personnel.  The forced entry into the locked storage bay was not easily noticeable from the outside of the storage bay.  The storage bay is one of many bays located in a large secured building. As of the writing of this release there have been no other burglaries reported at this storage facility.

The investigation is being conducted by State Police Detectives from the Troop L Major Crime Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call Troop L in Litchfield CT at (860) 567-6800.
