CONNECTICUT FUGITIVE APPREHENDED

                         AFTER STAND OFF IN MASSACHUSETTS

   On 12/11/07, at about 7:22 a.m., Connecticut State Police at Troop D received a 911 call from the victim who reported that her ex-husband Christopher Harmon, DOB 12/02/69, currently of Webster, Massachusetts, was in the area of her residence at 369 E. Putnam Rd. in Putnam in violation of active protective and restraining orders.  

   Connecticut State Troopers responded to the area and did locate the suspect vehicle on E. Putnam Rd in the area of the victim’s residence.  As the Trooper was approaching the suspect Harmon’s vehicle, Harmon pointed a rifle at the Trooper.  The Trooper took cover and suspect Harmon fled in his vehicle. The Trooper pursued the suspect for approximately several miles through the Putnam, Killingly and into Thompson. Where the suspect crossed the state line into Burrillville, Rhode Island. Connecticut State Troopers terminated the pursuit and notified Rhode Island and Massachusetts police agencies of this incident with a description of the suspect vehicle.

   At approximately 8:20 a.m., the Burrillville R.I. Police Department notified Connecticut State Police Troop D that they located and stopped suspect Harmon’s vehicle on South Shore Road in Douglas, Massachusetts, and that Harmon was held up the vehicle threatening harm to himself.

The Massachusetts State Police and the Rhode Island State Police Tactical teams responded to the scene and were assisted by Douglas, Massachusetts Police, Burrillville, Rhode Island Police and Connecticut State Police Departments.

   Massachusetts State Police negotiated for approximately 5 ½ hours and the suspect surrendered to Mass State Police without further incident. HARMON was charged by Massachusetts as a Fugitive from Justice from the State of Connecticut

   Presently Connecticut State Police hold an active arrest warrant for this suspect Harmon.  

   SUSPECT: Harmon, Christopher, DOB 12/02/69, 25 Cody Street, Webster, MA.  When he is returned to Connecticut he will be charged with Violation of a Protective Order (2 Counts), Criminal Attempt Assault 1^st, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Reckless Endangerment 1^st, Threatening, Interfering with Police Engaging Officer in Pursuit, and Reckless Driving.

   There were no injuries to this incident. The investigation is continuing.
