Event:   Dedication of Connecticut State Police B.A.T. Mobile

            to the memory of Trooper Trainee Kenneth Moore of

            the 96th Training Troop

   The newest Connecticut State Police DUI EnforcementEquipment will be dedicated to the memory of a Trooper Trainee who was killed while home for the weekend from the State Police Training Academy.

   On Tuesday May 15th, 2007, at 12:30 p.m., the State Police will dedicate the service of its newest piece of equipment - the B.A.T. Mobile (Breath Alcohol Testing mobile unit) to the memory of Trooper Trainee Kenneth Moore who was killed by a drunk driver on April 17, 1987.

   The B.A.T. vehicle was purchased by the State Police as an additional tool to battle drunk driving in Connecticut   This dedication commemorates the 20th anniversary of Trooper Trainee Moore’s death.  Trooper Trainee Moore was about half way through his State Police Training when he was tragically killed on April 17, 1987, by a drunk driver. Trooper Trainee Moore was a member of the 96th State Police Training Troop whose members just recently reached  20th anniversary of service as Connecticut State Troopers.

   It was deemed fitting to dedicate the service of this vehicle to Trooper Trainee Moore’s memory as a reminder to allthatdrunken driving affects everyone forever and it is important to enhance the efforts of the State Police Troopers to rid the roads of drunk drivers in Connecticut.

   The parents and family of Kenneth Moore will join Public Safety Commissioner John A. Danaher III and State Police Colonel Thomas Davoren to receive the memorial plaque that will be affixed to the B.A.T. mobile. In addition, State Police command staff will attend this ceremony to mark Tpr Trainee Moore’s memory. Members of Trainee Moore’s academy class the 96th Training Troop will also be present to mark this solemn anniversary and dedication ceremony.

   This plaque was purchased by the Connecticut State Police Trooper Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Connecticut State Police Academy Alumni Association.
