On Monday 10/09/06 shortly after 3:30 p.m. Connecticut State Police at Troop F Westbrook received a telephone report from two men who were bow hunting who reported that while hunting they came upon what appeared to be a possible human skull in the densely wooded area of land that separates the Connecticut River and Salmon River in the Haddam Neck section of Haddam.

Boat transportation was utilized to transport State Troopers and Major Crime Detectives to respond to the location where the discovery was made. Upon arrival State Troopers examined the skull and the surrounding scene.

Initial investigation reported that the skull was located in a wooded area, near the bank of the Salmon River.

The area was examined by Detectives for any additional evidence at the  scene.

The skull was seized and transported to the Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner. 

Today 10/10/06 The Medical Examiner’s office conducted an examination of the skull and did determine that the skull was in fact human. The skull is that of a male with a possible age of 35-45 years of age but no identity has yet been established

State Police Detectives will continue the investigation into this discovery.  Detectives will contact all surrounding police agencies to inquire about unsolved missing person cases or any other type of missing person incident that remains unsolved.

This case remains under investigation.
