State Police Investigating the Robbery

of a Taxi Cab Driver in Clinton

Central District Major Crime Detectives at the State Police barracks at Troop F in Westbrook are investigating a reported robbery that occurred on I-95 southbound on the exit 63 off ramp in the town of Clinton, on December 22, 2006, at approximately 12:54 am. The victim, who is a taxi cab driver, called 911 from his cell phone to report the incident.

The initial report indicates that the victim was transporting a “fare” from the Montville area to the New Haven area. The victim exited the highway at exit 63 in order to make a purchase at a local convenience store. As the taxi came to a stop at the bottom of the exit ramp, the “fare” implied that he had a gun and demanded money from the victim. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the “fare”, and the “fare” fled from the taxi on foot into a wooded area along the highway. A K-9 track was initiated from the scene of the incident, but the “fare” was not located. The victim was not injured during the course of the incident.

The suspect “fare” is described as a black male in his mid-thirties and wearing a white colored tee shirt with a dark colored zipper-type hooded sweatshirt over it.
