On 02/13/06 shortly after 2:30 p.m. State Police Troop-C received a 911 call from an unidentified female reporting that a 14 yr-old student was in possession of knife near the Tolland Public Library property.  It was further reported that the suspect was chasing another student and threatening to harm that student.

At about 2:30 p.m. a group of middle school students left the Tolland Middle School and were walking in the vicinity of the Tolland Library when the accused, a 14-year-old former student of the Tolland Middle School threatened harm to one of the students in the group.   The victim student fled on foot back to the Tolland Middle School with the accused in foot pursuit.  The victim student reported the incident to a school official.  The school went into a lockdown and the State Police were notified. An investigation conducted by the School Resources State Troopers revealed that the suspect student was in possession of a knife and that he had verbally threatened the victim with that knife.

An arrest warrant application was submitted to Juvenile Court for the arrest of the juvenile accused in this case.

Today 02/16/06 the juvenile accused was taken into custody by State Police.  He was transported to Troop-C where he was charged with Criminal attempt to Commit assault 2nd, Risk of Injury to a Minor (9 counts), Threatening, and Breach of Peace.
