3 SUBJECTS ARRESTED IN CONJUNTION WITH SHOOTING

HOMICIDE / ASSAULT IN PLYMOUTH

On 12/01/2006 at approximately 2:45 a.m. the Plymouth Police responded to a shooting at 2 Benedict Street in Plymouth, CT. Two persons at the scene were victims of apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other victim was transported from the scene to a hospital for treatment. The Plymouth Police with the assistance of State Troopers from Troop L began the search the area for the perpetrators of the shooting. The crime scene was secured. State Police Detectives from the Western District Major Crime Squad responded to the scene to process the crime scene and initiated this major crime investigation. The State Police worked with Plymouth Police and other local police agencies through the day and night. As a result of these investigative efforts 3 subjects were taken into custody and arrested.

The investigation has revealed the following- The victims who were gathered with several other people at 2 Benedict Street on the 3^rd floor apartment were the victims of an attempted robbery.

·        The deceased victim is being identified as :    

      Daniel DAVIS, Sr.    age 52   of  2 Benedict St.  3^rd Floor, Plymouth, CT   

           The deceased has been taken to the medical examiner’s office for a post mortem investigation               

           which will determined the exact manner and cause of death.

·        The injured victim is being identified as:

       Todd HALL    of  Terryville, CT  

            The victim was taken to Waterbury hospital  for treatment and subsequently treated and                   

             released.   

Those arrested are being identified as:

         #1-    LaFountain, Krista M.   age 41    d.o.b. 11/29/1965  of Bristol, CT

         #2-    Smykla, Walter  J.   age 22    d.o.b.  12/21/1983  of Bristol, CT

         #3-    Bodmaer, Sean     age  19    d.o.b. 11/03/1987  of Bristol, CT

All the accused are being charged with Felony Murder, Murder, Assault 1^st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Criminal Attempt to Commit Robbery.

LaFountain and Smykla were  apprehended in Bristol with assistance of the Bristol Police and Bodmaer was apprehended in Southington with the assistance of the Southington Police.

These subjects are being held on  $1,500,000 bonds to be presented in at G.A. 17 Bristol Superior Court on Decemebr 4^th, 2006.

State Police Detectives are continuing this investigation however no additional arrests are anticipated.
