Troop A is located in the Town of Southbury in the Central part of Western Connecticut.  The Troop area is bordered by Troops G, H, I, and L.  The Troop provides full police services to seven of the 16 cities and towns located in its operational area.

The Troop A area covers 291.7 square miles, 16 cities and towns, a population of over 150,000 people, and 730 miles of road way.  Nine cities and towns are served by an organized Police Department.  The Towns of Bridgewater, New Fairfield, Oxford, Redding, Roxbury, Sherman, and Southbury are served by the State Police and the Resident Trooper Program.
