Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission   

CHRO is designated by state statute (C. G. S. § 10-29b) as Secretariat for the Connecticut Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission (MLK Commission)

CHRO works with the MLK Commission to present the annual commemorative bell-ringing ceremony held on Martin Luther King's birthday at the State Capitol.

The MLK Commission also plans an annual youth conference that seeks to find answers to issues involving race relations, teen pregnancy and drugs/gangs/violence.

CHRO makes available for loan a photo exhibit, "Hand In Hand For Justice", which highlights Dr. King's involvement with the Jewish community in pursuing civil rights.

The MLK Commission's monthly meetings, to plan these events and conduct MLK Commission business, are open to the public. Please call  (860) 541-3404 for dates, time and location of meetings.
