Hartford - The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) Drinking Water Section will host a free half-day forum to increase awareness about career opportunities in the drinking water field for students, teachers, guidance counselors and other school officials.
The “Careers in Drinking Water” forum will take place on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at The Farmington Club in Farmington. The forum will emphasize the need for increased education directed towards career building within the water industry. The DPH Drinking Water Section is working to increase awareness of the impending shortage of drinking water industry workers and promote career building within the water industry.
Presentations and panel discussions will focus on educating high school staff and students about different career choices in the water industry and how to pursue them. Attendees can browse through an exhibitor area to learn about water utilities, the type of jobs available and the education needed to enter these fields. Exhibitors from the water industry and representatives from various educational institutions that offer courses in related fields will have informational booths on display and staff available to discuss their material.

High school principals, guidance counselors and students across Connecticut have been invited to attend this event.
