Professional Engineer - Reciprocity or Comity

Purpose:

This application is for an individual who is currently licensed as a professional engineer in good standing and may apply for a Connecticut license based on their license in another state or U.S. jurisdiction.  The Board does not automatically grant a Connecticut license because an individual is licensed in another jurisdiction.

Professional engineer reciprocity applicants must have passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam and NCEES Principles and Practice of Engineering exam. Applicants must have an accredited engineering degree and a minimum of four to seven years of engineering experience based on their degree.

Applicants who have any of the NCEES exams waived or do not hold an engineering degree (at least 48-credit hours in engineering courses) will not be approved by the Board.

The Board reviews applications according to the National Model Law.
