BAIL BOND ANNUAL ASSESSMENT PROCESS

BEWARE: The following instructions are for the $450 bail bond annual assessment payment ONLY. If you wish to submit your license renewal application and payment, please go to the bail bond regulation page, and click on the appropriate link to find the renewal instructions which is only done through NIPR and NOT through the portal.

Annual Bail Bond Assessment – Individual & Business Entity

IMPORTANT

The deadline for payment of the annual bail bond assessment (Individual/Business) is January 31, 2024.

Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes, Section 38a-660, all surety bail bond licensees in this state shall, on or before January thirty-first annually, pay to the Commissioner a fee of four hundred and fifty dollars. This includes both individual and business bail bond entities.

Failure to pay the annual assessment by the January 31st deadline WILL result in the cancellation of your bail bond license. If your license is cancelled, you will have to re-apply and meet first time license requirements if you wish to be reinstated. The Department is not responsible for late, lost, or misdirected payments.

Please follow the instructions below to submit your payment via the SBS License Manager.

  1. Click here to access SBS License Manager
  2. Complete the following search criteria:
    • Jurisdiction: Select "Connecticut"
    • Entity Type:
      • Individual licensees provide your Last Name, NPN and your SSN, click search button.
      • Business Entity licensees provide your NPN and your FEIN, click search button.
  3. Click the "Make Payments" button located at the top of your License Manager Home Page
  4. On the "Make Payments" page please enter/select the following information:
    • Payment Type: Select “BB-45500-Bail Bonds”
    • Payment Amount: Enter "$450.00"
    • Payer Name: Enter the name of the person paying the above amount
    • Payment Method: Select "Credit Card"
  5. Press Next
  6. Review the details of your payment on the "Payment Review" page, making sure that the "Payment Amount" shows correctly as $450.00. Click on the "Previous" button to make corrections.
  7. Press Next
  8. On the "Payment Details" screen enter the First and Last Name and billing address of the credit card you intend to use to pay the fee.
  9. Press Next or Finish
  10. On the "Credit Card Details" page enter your credit card number, expiration date and 3-digit CVC number (back of card) for the card you intend to use to pay the fee.
  11. Click the check box confirming your understanding that all fees paid using this service are non-refundable. Please do not leave or refresh page or use browser back button.
  12. Press Submit Payment
  13. The system will now display a message stating that you have successfully submitted your payment. You may click "Print This Receipt" for a printed copy of the transaction. An email confirmation will be sent listing all the details of the transaction.
