Best Practices for Human Rights CommissionsMunicipal human rights commissions are often empowered to receive complaints of discrimination. Investigating those complaints can be difficult, however, both because of the sensitive nature of the complaints and because of the procedural steps necessary for ensuring the integrity of the investigation. In this session, experienced investigators will share their process for handling these complaints and give strategies for how to investigate them thoroughly. Members of municipal commissions will also share their experiences in advocating for civil rights at the local level. Speakers
