The Security Division provides intelligence and investigatory functions which are crucial to the safety, security and order of the correctional facilities. The staff of this Division conduct internal investigations of all major incidents within the agency as well as performing continual audits of daily agency functioning to ensure compliance with the Administrative Directives. Employee background checks are also carried out by this Division.

Oversight and intelligence of Security Risk Group or gang activity within our correctional facilities is a key function of the Division. The Department's gang management operations are a national model.

The Security Division also oversees the agency's telephone monitoring system. The collect inmate phone system which is monitored and recorded has proven to be a valuable asset to law enforcement.

Security staff also work closely with the Attorney General, Chief State's Attorney's Office, Connecticut State Police, Statewide Gang Task Force and all local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
