Dr. Manisha Juthani's Ramadan message to DPH employees

Dear Colleagues,

The holiday of Ramadan—which began on Sunday, March 10, and ends on Tuesday, April 9—serves as a time for spiritual growth and reflection for those who follow the Muslim faith. Ramadan is a time for prayer, fasting, introspection and charitable giving. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on April 10 this year and is one of the two celebratory holidays in the Islamic Faith. This is a time when Muslims come together in prayer and celebrate completing Ramadan.

One thing I am very passionate about is the opportunity to foster a sense of inclusivity and respect for different cultures and religions here at the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Because Ramadan is a time for renewal and rejuvenation, it is important to reflect on compassion, empathy, and kindness as virtues we strive for in our work and daily lives.

To all our employees of the Muslim faith, may this holy month bring you peace, happiness, and spiritual fulfillment. Thank you for all that you do to ensure the health and wellness of the residents of Connecticut. We are grateful for your contributions and wish you a blessed Ramadan.

Sincerely,

Commissioner Juthani
