Human Rights and Opportunities

The Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) receives and investigates allegations of discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, and credit transactions because of race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, age, marital status, past or present history of mental disorder (employment) mental disability or lawful source of income (housing and public accommodations) mental retardation, learning disability, physical disability, sexual orientation or family status. 

The agency also receives complaints alleging denial of state license and/or state employment due to prior conviction of a crime.Where a violation is found, the Commission provides appropriate relief.
