Public Invited to Informational Meeting Regarding Type II Statewide Noise Analysis
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the Type II Statewide Noise Analysis on May 23, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
The virtual public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments and ask questions regarding the Type II Statewide Noise Analysis Draft Report. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required here. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. Legislation passed by the Connecticut General Assembly (Public Act 23-135, Section 34 – Noise Barrier Study) required the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) to initiate a statewide Type II Noise Analysis to reevaluate the previous program that was outdated and suspended due to funding.
“The purpose of the analysis is to reevaluate and replace the previous noise analysis which identifies potential needs of noise abatement in accordance with the federal regulations as well as the state policy,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Anna LaRose. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to learn more about the program and provide their feedback to the CTDOT team.”
The Statewide Noise Analysis aimed to identify areas adjacent to Principal Arterial highways and expressways in Connecticut experiencing existing noise levels that exceed the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)’s Noise Abatement Criteria (in accordance with FHWA regulation 23 CFR 772). The Type II Noise Analysis is the first step towards initiating a Type II program.

Language assistance may be requested by contacting the CTDOT Language Assistance Call Line (860) 594-2109. Requests should be made at least five business days prior to the meeting. Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public and efforts will be made to respond to timely requests for assistance.
This meeting in addition to Zoom will also be livestreamed on the CTDOT YouTube channel; no registration is required. Non-English language closed captioning will be available on Zoom and YouTube.
The recording will also be posted immediately following the meeting in the list of CTDOT virtual public meetings at portal.ct.gov/ctdotVPIMarchive.
