The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the replacement of Bridge No. 04074 carrying Fairhaven Road over Pattagansett River on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
The virtual public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community with the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. For instructions on accessing the meeting and ways to provide comments and ask questions, please visit https://portal.ct.gov/DOTEastLyme44-160.
“This project will benefit the local community and environment by improving driver safety, ensuring pedestrian access across the river, and increase resiliency against tidal flushing,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Marc Byrnes. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
There are right-of-way impacts anticipated for the replacement bridge, as well as approach roadway grading and drainage. Temporary construction easements may also be acquired to accommodate temporary overhead utility relocation and provide construction access.
Construction is anticipated to start spring 2027, depending on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights-of-way, and approval of permits. The estimated cost for this project is approximately $12.61 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
