Video screening

Thank you for participating as a screening judge in this year's contest.

1. With these instructions you will find a link at the bottom of the page to 29 video entries in this year's contest.  Each video is in wmv format and can be viewed in Windows Media Player.

2. When judging the video submissions, use the following criteria for ranking. See Scoring Tips for more details:

  • Overall Impact (50%)
  • Originality (25%)
  • Cinematic Style (25%)
Please note: Because of the large file size of the videos, they had to be converted to an wmv format to upload them to the Web site. In doing this, some of the picture quality was lost in some of the videos.  Some videos may appear pixilated or slightly blurry, but this is not indicative of the original submission. Please focus on content rather than picture quality for the first round.

Keep in mind, the information contained in each submitted entry (such as statistics and statements of the law) has not been screened for accuracy. Contest rules explicitly stated: "Any supporting data used in your video, such as statistics, quotations and facts must be true, accurate and reliable."  However, the videos that advance to the next round of judging will be screened for accuracy.

3. Please view all 29 entries.  Each entry has been randomly assigned a unique number for anonymity. Videos are numbered in order from #1 to #29.  Be sure to have paper and a pen nearby for making notes.

4. If you find you are related to any of the actors or producers in a video or have another conflict of interest, do not include that video among your selections.

5. After viewing all the entries, please use the online judging form to rank your list of the top-5 best entries in order. When ranking your top 5, please use the entry’s corresponding number.  Take your time, perhaps watching a video several times, as well as reviewing your notes, to rank your top-5 choices with #1 being your top choice and #5 representing your 5th choice.  You may not tie two entries for a single choice and you cannot abstain therefore submitting less than 5 choices. You must rank 5 individual choices.

6.  After viewing all entries, please use the online judging form to rank your list of the top-2 entries that best display the elements of diversity, as required for each video submission.  When ranking your top 2, please use the entry’s corresponding number.  Rank your top 2 choices with #1 being your top choice and #2 representing your 2nd choice.

7. Based on the rankings provided by each of our judges, finalists will be determined.

8. Please submit your top 5 videos no later than Wednesday, March, 21, 2018 at 10 a.m.  If you have any questions, please contact Bill Seymour or Ernie Bertothy in the DMV Corporate and Public Relations Office or call 860-263-5024.
