LT. GOV. WYMAN AND LT. GOV. ELLSPERMANN PLACE WAGER ON WOMEN'S NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

(HARTFORD, CT) - Today, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Indiana Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann announced a friendly wager on the outcome of tonight's UConn Huskies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish NCAA Women's National Championship matchup.

"We are looking forward to a great game tonight," said Lt. Governor Wyman. "Our Huskies are facing a formidable opponent in the Fighting Irish, but I have all the confidence that the UConn women are ready. We couldn't be prouder of these student athletes and all their accomplishments. They are great representatives of UConn and Connecticut."

Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann said, "Tonight's game will be a classic match-up between two undefeated teams. Throughout the season, the Irish have met every challenge and proven to be one of the truly outstanding teams in the history of women's college basketball. Their skills and teamwork will be tested tonight, but the Irish will reach their ultimate goal and bring a national championship trophy back to South Bend."

Lt. Gov. Wyman has offered a basket of Connecticut chocolate, cheese, syrup, and wine in the unlikely event of a Hoosier win. Lt. Gov. Ellspermann is betting chocolates from the famous South Bend Chocolate company and other Indiana products that Notre Dame will emerge victorious.

Tonight's championship game, held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, begins at 8:30 p.m. EDT.
