How Parents Can Promote Teen Safe Driving Week and Help Make their Teen a Safer Driver

Review the Connecticut's new teen driving laws with your son or daughter.
Read the DMV's Parent's Guide for tips to help your teen learn how to become a safe driver.
Discuss with your child what to do in case of an emergency. Always have a back-up plan in case you can't be reached. Explain to them who they should call and what they should do if they:

get into an accident
get a flat tire
get lost
run out of gas

Read Allstate's "Under Your Influence" brochure on how to protect your teen on the road.
Create and sign the Allstate parent/teen driving contract or make your own parent/teen driving contract.
The top causes of teenage motor vehicle crashes include:
- Speeding
- Running off the road
- Driving in the wrong lane
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication
- Erratic or reckless driving

Talk to your teen about these behaviors and the consequences of their actions.
