Secretary Merrill Statement on the President's Attempt to Overturn the Results of Georgia's Election

“When the President of the United States demands the Chief Election Officer of a state to ‘find’ enough votes to change the results of an election, he is directly attacking the record number of American voters who turned out in November, the hundreds of thousands of poll workers and election officials of both parties who worked hard to administer a free and fair election, and American democracy itself.

“It should be chilling to every American who believes in democracy and respect for the will of the American people to hear the president attempt to overthrow an election just because he doesn’t like the result.”
