Perkins Budget Buddy

Purpose: To provide guidance in developing the Perkins secondary, postsecondary and tech prep ED114 budget sheet and budget narrative. It is the responsibility of the local program to ensure that all costs are reasonable, necessary, and auditable, and that they adhere to federal, state and local requirements and appropriate. The "Perkins Budget Buddy" guidelines go into effect with the program year beginning July 1, 2003 (FY04).

Curriculum and Instruction

Local Competitive Grant for Computer Assisted Writing, Instruction and Testing (2005-2006)

Purpose: The purpose of this grant program is to create pilot sites that will allow the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) to: examine the effectiveness of using technology (specifically laptops) in the teaching of high school writing: such technology would have the capability to provide specific, frequent feedback to students on their writing, and examine issues and necessary accommodations in order to administer the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) online.

Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) 2005 - 2006

Purpose: To provide professional development experience to teams of Connecticut educators through sessions which offer practical application of current research about teaching and learning. Sessions are designed to develop, enrich and improve the skills, knowledge and expertise needed by educators to improve their ability to help students achieve and perform at high levels. Under CGS Section 10-220a(c) & (d).

Early Childhood Education

Head Start 2005-2006      [DOC]

Purpose: To assist non-profit agencies and local and regional boards of education, which are federal Head Start grantees in: 1) establishing extended-day and full-day, year-round Head Start programs or expanding existing Head Start programs to extended-day or full-day, year-round programs; or 2) enhancing program quality; or 3) increasing the number of children served.
