Governor Ned Lamont is announcing Connecticut’s continued momentum following a successful debt refinancing through the Office of the State Treasurer Friday. Connecticut was able to refinance debt at one of the lowest relative interest rates the state has seen in years.

Governor Ned Lamont today announced that based on actions made by the chair of the Connecticut Port Authority that he believes were inappropriate and unacceptable given the importance of this board, he has called for the resignation of board chair Bonnie Reemsnyder. At today’s board meeting, Reemsnyder submitted her resignation.

Governor Lamont Announces Release of State Assistance for Gun Violence Prevention Efforts
In response to discussions his administration has had with the police chiefs of Bridgeport, Hartford, and New Haven regarding a recent, summertime increase in urban gun violence, Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the state is releasing an extra $25,000 to each city that will help pay for the short-term costs of adding local police patrols above their normal staffing levels that will be specifically focused on curbing violence.

Governor Lamont: Flags Lowered to Half-Staff Tuesday in Honor of U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that – in accordance with a presidential proclamation directing flags to be lowered throughout the country in honor of U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens – U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

Lamont Administration Reaches Pension Agreement With State Employee Unions That Will Provide Budgetary Relief
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that his administration has reached an agreement with the State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) that will provide the state with hundreds of millions of dollars in budgetary relief over the next decade through a re-amortization of the state’s liability under the State Employee Retirement System (SERS), the state’s largest retirement system.
