Governor Lamont Announces Investments in Ten Connecticut Communities To Reduce Transportation Emissions
Governor Ned Lamont today announced the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is awarding $24 million in federal funds to ten transportation projects aimed at improving air quality in Connecticut. As part of the Federal Highway Administration’s Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement Program, Connecticut invests federal funds in local, cost-effective projects that will reduce vehicle exhaust emissions in areas of the state that do not attain national air quality standards.

Governor Lamont Announces Plan To Eliminate Statewide School Mask Requirement, Allow These Decisions To Be Determined at the Local Level
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is endorsing a plan developed in consultation with Connecticut Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Manisha Juthani and Connecticut State Department of Education Commissioner Charlene Russell-Tucker to eliminate the statewide requirement that is in effect as part of Connecticut’s COVID-19 safety protocols for masks to be worn in all schools and childcare centers effective Monday, February 28, 2022, and on that date allow the determination on whether to require masks in these locations to be made at the local level.

Governor Lamont Introduces Comprehensive Package of Legislative Proposals on Gun Violence
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that on the first day of the 2022 regular session of the Connecticut General Assembly, which begins on Wednesday, February 9, he will introduce a comprehensive package of legislative proposals aimed at eliminating gun violence in Connecticut through a series of targeted initiatives, including the enhancement of efforts to stop the illegal flow of guns to the state, providing millions of dollars in additional funding to law enforcement to strengthen their work, and closing loopholes in gun safety laws, among others.

Governor Lamont Activates Severe Cold Weather Protocol From Saturday to Sunday
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that as temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits on Saturday night, he is directing the State of Connecticut’s severe cold weather protocol to be activated beginning at noon on Saturday, February 5, 2022, and remaining in effect through noon on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Governor Lamont Announces Connecticut’s Major Disaster Declaration From Hurricane Ida Amended To Include Fairfield and Litchfield Counties for Public Assistance Program
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he received notification from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that Connecticut’s existing major disaster declaration that was approved by President Joe Biden in response to the damage caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida in early September has been amended to include the approval of Fairfield County and Litchfield County for the FEMA Public Assistance Grant Program.

Governor Lamont Announces $8.2 Million in State Grants To Support Transportation Safety Upgrades and Improved Accessibility in Seventeen Towns and Cities
Governor Ned Lamont and Transportation Commissioner Joseph Giulietti today announced that the Connecticut Department of Transportation is awarding $8.2 million in grants to 17 towns and cities across Connecticut under a state-funded competitive grant program for local projects that support improved mobility and accessibility, as well as pedestrian and bicycle safety.
