In the event of a public health emergency, it may be necessary for local health departments to activate their points of dispensing (PODs) to distribute large amounts of vaccinations, antiobotics, and other medicines to a large number of people.  A mass dispensing event would be a public health emergency in which these PODs would be activated.

In addition to the items below, you should also have the following prepared in advance:
  • A website with information on your mass dispensing site that can be launched in a mass dispensing event (H1N1 vaccine website template)
  • Driving directions to your mass dispensing site.  Be sure to include any traffic patterns that control the flow of traffic that will be in place.
  • Map of your mass dispensing site including parking and dispensing flow
  • "Post Exposure Prophylaxis" CD-Rom which contains information sheets and dosing labels in 48 languages.  If you do not have this CD-Rom, please contact DPH.
  • 24-hour phone number

SIGNAGE

The Connecticut Department of Public Health is currently working to have signage translated into Chinese (traditional), Haitian Croele, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Spanish and Vietnamese.  These documents will be posted on this site once they are available.  If a mass dispensing event were to take place before the translations, the department advises that signage from the Washington State Department of Health (below) be used.

Site contains signage and handouts in multiple languages. Also provides information on planning for signage based on the layout of the point of distribution and how to order signs.
