Position Title: State School Teachers (12 Month-Library Media Specialist)

York Correctional Institution, Niantic, CT  
Hours: 1st Shift, Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of the philosophy and methods of education and teaching; knowledge of the principles and practices of education for special needs population; knowledge of student program needs and goal setting; ability to motivate students; ability to communicate at the appropriate level; ability to establish cooperative relationships; ability to prepare written reports.
General Experience: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
Special Requirement: Candidates need to hold Connecticut Certification as a School Library Media Specialist (#062).
Preferred Skills & Abilities:
  • Preferred candidate will have at least one (1) year recent (within the last five years) teaching experience with at risk population.
  • Preferred candidate will have working knowledge of current technology used in classrooms; to include the use of Smart boards and Eno boards. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate usage in a classroom lesson plan as part of the interview process.
