Position Title: Information Technology Analyst 2

Location: Central Office (24 Wolcott Hill Rd. Wethersfield, CT. 06109)
Hours: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday
Salary: $74,945-$94,975

Eligibility Requirement: Candidates must have applied for and passed the Information Technology Analyst 2 exam and be on the current certification list promulgated by the Department of Administrative Services. State employees currently holding the above title or those who have previously attained permanent status in the class may apply for a lateral transfer.
Example of Duties: Provides system administration support for server environment.  Build, configure, and troubleshoot new and existing server/clients on both new and existing systems, physical and virtual.  Recommends and creates action plans for network system development and/or integration.  Provides second or third level support for network connectivity or related server issues for the user community.  Coordinate the installation and maintenance of network and server components.  Analyzes server/network activity.  Manages, maintains and contributes to server system documentation.  Develops back-up procedures for LAN servers, analyzes the recovery and reliability capability of system and network services and makes recommendations for improvement; Recommends hardware and software purchases.  Participates in projects which call for troubleshooting, installing, implementing, administering and maintaining network systems and server.  Assigns file access controls and other security attributes.  Provides and maintains documentation and manuals necessary at operation level.  Develops and implement's network security procedures.
Preferred  Experience: Experience in a large network environment.  In depth knowledge of Microsoft Operating System, configuring and managing server platforms including SQL server 2008/2012.  Experience with configuring and administration of Microsoft Active Directory, eDirectory, OpenLDAP, etc.  Experience with VMWare and ESXi, vSphere 5.x.  Experience configuring and installing servers, OS, applications and network equipment; this includes the physical and virtual installation.  Knowledge of storage technology and storage management.  Knowledge of data backup of servers to tape and other devices, Veeam and ARCserve a plus.  Considerable knowledge of server equipment, IT components and diagnostic tools, knowledge of priniciples and techniques of systems analysis, design and development; knowledge of practices and issues of systems' security and disaster recovery.  Preferred knowledge of Cisco equipment and networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security and wireless concepts, routing and switching fundamentals and configuring simple networks.  Strong attention to details and technical problem solving skills; ability  to write, test , and debug computer programs; significant ability to prepare manuals, reports, documentation and other written materials.  Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.  Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Experience in critical production environments where systems must be kept up and running.  Linux experience a plus.
