Correctional Treatment Officer

Eligibility Requirement: To apply for the position of Correctional Treatment Officer, candidates must have applied for and passed the Correctional Treatment Officer exam and be on the current certification list promulgated by the Department of Administrative Services.  DOC employees currently holding the above title or those who have previously attained permanent status in the class may also apply.
Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of current correctional practices; knowledge of basic guidance and counseling techniques; basic knowledge of community resources and parole programs; considerable interpersonal, oral and written skills.
General Experience: Two (2) years experience in correctional treatment services or experience working with individuals with emotional disturbances, behavioral disorders or substance abuse issues. 
Preferred Experience: Candidates with experience or education concerning specific needs of specialty populations at different facilities will be given preference as it relates to each vacancy being filled. Examples include, but are not limited to, knowledge of mental health issues, youthful offenders, female offenders, substance abuse/recovery issues, and security risk groups.
