|Minimum Qualifications:||Considerable knowledge of modern correctional methods and practices; knowledge of purpose and methods of discipline as applied to persons under restraint; considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills; supervisory ability.|
|Eligibility Requirement:||To apply for the position of Correctional Lieutenant, candidates must have applied for and passed the Correctional Lieutenant exam and be on the current certification list promulgated by the Department of Administrative Services. DOC employees currently who have previously attained permanent status in the class may also apply.|
Candidates with experience or education related to specific facility needs will be given preference for each vacancy. Candidates able to demonstrate the following core values, abilities and skills will also be given preference: ethics, ability to forge professional interpersonal relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors; ability to supervise daily operations, manage emergency situations and ensure the safety and security of a facility; ability to ensure compliance with Administrative and Unit Directives; ability to motivate staff and promote a positive work environment; ability to perform administrative duties utilizing oral and written communication skills, conflict resolution, collaboration, team building and problem solving/decision making skills.
